Media release response to news of the Paragon Café closing

THE PARAGON, KATOOMBA

Another chapter in the history of the Paragon Cafe will close in May 2018 with the departure of Ms Robyn Parker, who has run the Cafe and its Chocolate Business since 2011.   A spokesperson for the Friends of The Paragon Inc., President, Dr Robert Strange responded today to reports of the impending closure of the Paragon Cafe saying,
“The Friends of The Paragon appreciate the effort that Ms Robyn Parker put into maintaining the business and her generous collaboration with the Friends in establishing public access tours of the Cafe’s elaborate Art Deco rooms, its Bakery Museum of historic artefacts and its Chocolate Factory.  The Friends of The Paragon wish Ms Parker well in her new venture.  We will cooperate with the owner of the property and future tenants in continuing our efforts to preserve the heritage values of the premises” he said. 
The Friends of The Paragon is an Incorporated Association committed to preserving, maintaining and documenting as many of the aspects as possible of the architectural, cultural and social history of the Katoomba institution that is The Paragon, Dr Strange said.
The Friends of The Paragon will meet Wednesday 21 February 6-8pm, at the Blue Mountains Historical Society rooms, Hobby’s Reach, 99-101 Blaxland Road in Wentworth Falls.  Public welcome to attend.
