In 1944, Otto Steen was commissioned to carve a series of classical figures in alabaster, set on the maple panels in the main area of the café.
We’re still working out exactly which piece of legend / folklore each panel represents, and will fill in the blanks over time.
The name and date can still be seen in the bottom right hand corner of each panel.
Steen also created a number of features at the Everglades Gardens, Leura.
